Why Does pH Matter in Skincare?

pH describes how acidic or alkaline a solution is. Skin’s surface sits in a mildly acidic range, and formulations that sit far outside that comfort zone can feel harsh—especially on sensitive or compromised skin.

With HOCl, concentration is only one part of the story. Factors such as pH, purity, stability and production method also matter. The goal is not simply to maximise concentration, but to create a formulation appropriate for its intended use.

Lumi Derma is formulated at a near-neutral, skin-friendly pH—one reason it can be used on face and neck without the caustic behaviour associated with high-pH bleach chemistry.
